the myth of friendship

I realized this phenomenon of mine quite a while ago.  But I just found time now to write about this. So here is my hypothesis.

I know that change is the only consistency of human life. Friendship is no different. I really want to know who is the founder of a quote that says “friendship is forever”. How dare him to say such thing? I want to challenge that! nothing is forever I can guarantee you.

The first time I learnt this reality when i was abroad with the AFS. When I got home, people changed, I changed. Some friends were such strangers to me! “Transition”, I thought. Then I entered college. Some of my very best friend during my last year of high school became kind of distant friend. ‘Transition”, I justified. And now, i finished my undergrad. Some of the very people that I spent most of my college years got very hard to keep in touch with. They hardly have time to spent together. “Transition” here we go again.

It is sometimes really painful to see how people come and go in life. I thought they are there forever but they’re not. And life does not compromise with this. I can’t complain. Life continues to move on. I’ll just do my best to keep on those friends that I have left now. Before life take them away (again) from me.

“gw termasuk yg udah males mikirin bem ui, tp ngeliat pasangan ktua baru ini, ada sdikit harapan biar gw bs ngerasain cita rasa baru dr bem ui. dan memang yg gw mksd ya bner2 baru.”

Imad yang walaupun gerak gerik, lingkungan, dan tingkah hampir saru dengan tarbiyah tp whatta heck dia bukan tarbiyah, mnurut gw, mirip2 sama Obama. Dianggap sebagai harapan baru atas BEM UI yang kacau beliau, harapan atas rakyat AS atas kekisruhan krisis global dan perang Iraq-Afghanistan.

Obama adalah presiden dengan popular votes tertinggi 2 dekade terakhir, mengawali kepemimpinan dengan tingkap approval rating tertinggi. Harapan atas Imad yang mengakhiri kepemimpinan Tarbiyah yang ghoib (ada tp gada, gada tp ada) juga tinggi banget sampe kaya ada komentar kaya di atas tadi. Ini baru persamaan pertama.

Kedua, sejauh yang gw tau, ada rumor, katanya kelompok tarbiyah gamau ikutan bem-nya Imad (rumor maap). Nah, kalau begitu ini mirip juga dengan Obama, dimana Partai Republikan yg dikalahinnya menganut asas PDIP, asal tolak proposal kebijakan Obama. UU Jaminan Kesehatan AS aja ga didukung sama sekali sama Republik, padahal dukungan rakyat AS akan perlunya Health Care Reform itu gede banget. Apa boleh buat, pemerintahan AS skrg praktis adalah pemerintahan dari, oleh dan untuk Demokrat. Utk Imad, masih perlu diliat gmana kelanjutan Tarbiyah ini. Yg jelas, sebagaimana tujuan Republik menolak Obama habis2an, tujuannya adalah 2012, shingga dgn mudahnya “tuh kan kalau gagal Obama sih gerak sendirian”. Mungkin Tarbiyah juga berfikir demikian.

Skrg approval rating Obama menurun drastis, salah satu yg terendah di sejarah presiden AS dgn rentang waktu yang sama. Apakah Imad akan mengalami hal yang sama?
