Palin to Mega : You Have a Friend in Me

October 5, 2008 by patryapratama

I’m not against Megawati nor Palin, but i believe that it takes some knowledge to be a top-ranking government official. As to this interview,i am awkwardly disturbed as a international relation major student when Palin explains her foreign relations knowledge. Some people just dont suit some position. Check this out guys.

Call me a sexist,but it’s hillarious

October 5, 2008 by patryapratama

In fact, i never differentiate gender when it comes to public official. About this post, i just wanna add one thing, if this kind of political jokes ever happens in Indonesia, there are 2 possibilities : the show got shut down or the actress got shot at. Laugh it up guys!

on desicion making

June 13, 2008 by patryapratama

hey again…it’s been while.

Dude i gotta tell you this. Among weird things i always do, there are at least two stuff that never change. Its that i am aquite consistent flip-flopper and never ready enough to get over my childhood. Living a kind of life with those characteristics is kinda fun actually, not necessarily fit people well, but umm it’s great. I mean, just think about it. How many people who claim that they live their life seriously yet they screwed up eventually and got f**k up in their lives?

And by the way, it happened to be that i had to make a tough call today. The kind of desicion that could change the landscape of my freakin life for the next two years. You dont have to know believe me cuz you’ll know anyway somehow. At one point when making the call, i thought, dude Pat this is your major desicion making after a while. You have got to be more serious (as if it had been a voluntary acknowledgement that i had been such a kid).

But umm after a while i thought…you know…may be i dont have to be serious. I choose to keep thinking that this entire life is a trial and error. If i fucked up with this desicion,so what…i cant keep making a good call afterall can I?

In short,i hope that i could always make my desicion lightly, get on with life, (sometimes) screw up, pick up the pieces again…reshape, and keep laughing at my own mistakes.I dont even know if this is gonna work. Do you?

a 20 year fergie glory thanks note

June 13, 2008 by patryapratama

These battered hands are all you own
This broken heart just turned to stone
Go hang your glory on the wall
There comes a time when castles fall
And all that’s left is shifting in the sand

You’re out of time, you’re out of place
Look at your face
That’s the measure of a man

This coat that fits you like a glove
These dirty streets you learned to love
So welcome back my long lost friend
You’ve been to hell and back again
And God alone knows how you crossed that span

Back on the beat, back to the start
Trust in your heart
That’s the measure of a man

It’s the fire in the eyes, the lines on the hand
It’s the things you understand
Permanent ties from which you once ran
That’s the measure of a man

You’ve come full circle, now you’re home
Without the gold, without the chrome
And this is where you’ve always been
You had to lose so you could win
And rise above your troubles while you can

Now you can love, now you can lose
Now you can choose
That’s the measure of a man

It’s the fire in the eyes, the lines on the hand
It’s the things you understand
Permanent ties from which you once ran
That’s the measure of a man

You’ve come full circle, now you’re home
Without the gold, without the chrome
And this is where you’ve always been
You had to lose so you could win
And rise above your troubles while you can

Now you can love, now you can lose
Now you can choose
That’s the measure of a man

Just Some Random Thoughts of the Day

March 23, 2008 by patryapratama

On Manyoo : today i randomly thought what if Sir Alex Feguson dies? what would i do and what would happen?  i think i’ll send flowers to his home or to old Trafford. I might ask how much it costs to fly to UK,but there’s empty hope behing it,so ouw well. But what scares me more is on what would happen next? how manchester United do without him? look,he’s in his 70’s, is healthy, still shouting at some idiotic referees, enought reason for me to think about this in at least 10 years time.

On Tennis : Where on earth Serena and Venus Williams? women tennis become “too white” without them! You’ve gotta adore the sisters, especially for all effort and sacrifices they gave in such a young age. To substitute my eagerness to see “historical mental toughness” of the two, now i choose my own eagerness to see “beauty peagant” at women tennis. Afterall this is what most men say when it comes to the likes of Maria Sharapova, Ivanovic, Hantuchova (but not Henin due to her “unwomenly” characteristic). Not all these women performs the best tennis as the Williams always do,but they perform the best look. Love both ways!

On miracle : as normal person, one might want to try to do in their late life to give appreciation to those who have helped him/her in his/her life. Same thing hapenned to me. If i ever become succesfull (with a reduced definition of succes as being recognizably accomplished for the good deeds i’ve done), i would create a world awards in the name of mine. It would be called “Patrya awards”, as it stands now, i would give the awards to my dad, my mom, my grandmas, my guru ngaji smp, to the AFS, to all my sd teachers, Kentucky Fried Chicken, Teh Botol Sosro, etc. And afterwards, i would make this award to somebody who is believed to have performed some kind of miracle to other people, somebody who has done a huge favor to serve others. The awards hopefully will be as high profile as Academy Award or Grammy or Nobel Peace Prize. I can imagine the winner of Patrya Awards of 2057 is given to (for example) Tuminem for his tireless effort to feed 100 vilagers in TimorLeste, cool huh? Well afterall, just some idea to make my name out of something.

On motorcycle : you know what would be my first policy when i get (somehow) to become a ministry of transportation? I would create a special lane for motorcycle on the side of every road. And a direct order to shoot directly for policemen if there’s motorbike disobey the law! gosh i hate motorcycle! Life would be greater without them!

Enough for the randomness! i need to get a life.

Short note on OIS

March 23, 2008 by patryapratama

Hi there! Damn it has been a while i havent posted any stories here,so here i go. So this time i’m not gonna write anything about political issue as the last one (if you considered Suharto as political issue,i tend to describe it as “dead-man agenda”).

Before i talk about OIS, i want to go back to what i said a while a go when i was about to finish high school. I remember saying that i’ve had enough working on events commitee. You know…all that “been there-done that” kinda statement, whatta shmuck i was -as always. Fyi…my junior high and senior high were having so many events -not all of them were usefull i must admit, but there were lots of them. Having th position as ketua umum was ridicoulusly making me feel that i know everything. (keep reading cuz you’ll get the wrong impression of me if you stop here).

Then time revealed itself to me. In university, i got bored easily. Man! i cant stand going to classes after classes without doing anything else. My brain freezed up…my creativity was gone (if there had been any). Then it happened to me some vicious offer to help OIS, and the year after i was offered to be the PO. Honestly i freakin’ didnt know why did i still accept such offer since the feeling of “hell yea i know everything” was still evident at the time. I guess it was just some random drive to keep me saying yes to any activity that makes me busy, the hunger for the next challange…the thirst of…i dont even know the word…stupidity i thought…

Ok…so the same things happen in the events…fundraising…shouting…money…schedule…basically all kinds of madness you can think of. You dont know what kind of madness i’m talking about when it comes to me unless you’ve worked with me. I’m an a**hole i must admit, in a good way (sorry it it’s too hard to imagine).  The events itself went more or less well i suppose…with hundreds of flaws here and there but generally it went ok. Then there came thoughts…something that i always try to get use to doing periodically.

Then i give myself some time to think. The conclusion : there are no such thing as “been there done that” paradigm. There’s always new things to learn from. Never in my comitee before had i found a kestari like this Medanese Girl. She’s so sincere, honest…although those are not necessarily enough due to her “limited experience” in typing -and cellphoning. I’m not trying to single out her…but my point is that…there are always millions of details that you can see and learn. So many stories behind everyone you’re working with. These new details thrill me so much…Forget the work (some people might say as i type this…yea right Pat, you peace of s**t,look who’s talking)…i dont think it’s the work that i’ll remember…but the opportunity i took and opportunity i didnt take to understand people. It was so difficult to see these when you work, shoot!

So umm,i know, dull conclusion eh? sorry to dissapoint you. This is just to remind us that often we are too cheap in saying that we’ve had it all whereas we actually havent learnt enough. Having say that,i dont think i’ll never say never again.Only time will tell.

First Post : Whatta “Fuss” is Soeharto?

January 21, 2008 by patryapratama

Assalamualaikum my fellow countrymen (and women)! So here i go…my first serious post. Aha this is what i start to hate about blogging…once yout have it,it’ll feel a bit intimidating of having a blog without being productive in posting some writing…so here it is. Pardon me if it is uninteresting and dull..after all this blog is just a week-old…

Suharto…nice name eh?-why the heck i would write about this dieing (is is spelled dying as in hair dying?ups sorry) human-being, i honestly dont know. There must be something about him that makes everyone in this country a bit itchy of their hands to write some words or their mouth to say something. Maybe it is his name…”SUHARTO” that encourages people…you know…this is “THE” name that once was a guarantee of every pain and gain Indonesia had for almost 32 years. SUHARTO should have been picked by JK Rowling as Harry’s lifetime rival…instead of “Lord Voldermort” (for this one,why the hell Rowling pick such a lame name for an antagonist?). It would be waaay cool to see some Indonesian name mentioned in such a famous book, especially when Rowling put it “him who shouldnt be mentioned” or “him who masters the world of darkness”. But anyway…i dont think it is his name that amused people to talk about him so much recently…afterall it was not that great of a name…take “Patrya” for instance, means more than the old Suharto (Patrya=countryman). Move on…

Then maybe it is his health that moves people to make a lot of fuss about him. Especially after all media talk about that cute little thing in his chest, is it ventilator or something? i’m not sure. They say that that gadget has kept that man alive for quite some time. Well…this kinda makes me think that Indonesia should have adopted “euthanasia” law…so that such an expensive facilities wouldnt bother a lot of people. So if the “ventilator” is the case, then the government should have it sold for everybody…even put it in a ATM machine (you know…like the ATM Condom, imagine “ventilator ATM”,that would make guiness record!). But naaah… i dont think it’s his health. A lot of people suffer much much more than him, and a lot more people use a much expensive and sophisticated facilities to keep them alive. If it is about health…then AIDS, malaria, or TB should have been given some upperhand than his “health system failure with ventilator” (whatta hell kind of desease is that? soo not cool).

Ok…let’s see…and then i think…maybe it was his history that makes people talk about him so much. This is a strong case cuz the man was president of this country for, umm ever (no,i exagerate it…only 3 decades and about 3 generations and several millions of Indonesians and several billions of dollars were at stake, no big deal eh?). Geez…President Putin would have wanted his position now!). He managed to work his way to presidency, ousted Sukarno and probably had killed him slowly but surely (maybe he thought the Bhotto model of killing is way to messy, so just put him in a house arrest…Gosh my cat hates it!). He wasnt that bad though…food sufficiency, done! political stability, done! international role, done! but what cought my attention was the way he’d done population control…i found out that there are at least 2 ways…one is by the family planning program and the other is (which he likes the most) through extermination. Well…some of them went missing and several years later found in some random river with his finger missing or if he’s tired enough…the soldier did it for him. These 2 method of population control program has some advantage…it controlled the growing population of Indonesians and it controlled the “mind, ideas, and movement” of its people. Soeharto apparenly is not very keen on some disagreement. He would like them to be,umm…united. (what if now SBY doesnt like ventilator?imagine! all men with ventilator should give it all up,and there he died!j/k). And then somehow Indonesian realized that they had to end his leadership and he resigned afterall…His wealth is even put under law which enforce his countrymen to check all corruption he’d done ( this kinda makes me think what if my highschool principal put in TAP MPR as one man whose wealth should be investigated, hell i’ll support that!). Well…this reason (his deeds before,as president)…has held on for a while that makes me think that it may be the cause for all fuss about him. But again…doubts crossed my mind. It cant be that! You know…his corruption charges have been there forever and he’s not that powerfull anymore. Afterall…what can a man with ventilator do? he cant even dress  himself! The so-called-democracy is there now and there is no way he can be president again (imagine..a “ventilated-president”? too complicated, sorry).

Then,i’ve come up to the ultimate reason for all the fuss! It found out that his rats, cronys, ass-lickers are all holding position in the government! Oh my god…you have no idea how they love him soo much (i dont know if it was his name,weath,deeds..not his wife definetely, not that pretty). SBY, JK, Wiranto, and hundreds others are by name. Now I understand why JK Rowling enabled Lord Voldermort alive, it was his servants! Imagine if those servants arent there…Lord Voldermort wont make it to Rowling’s books, and Harry Potter’s series wouldnt be bestsellers. And just to complicate the stories…the people, his own countrymen, many of whom have been falsified by the so-called- economic-political stability HAVENT learnt! They still think that Soeharto is their Santa. Rowling couldnt even think about this…i mean most hogwarts hate Voldermort, right? Even Megawati wants to forgive Soeharto, man!!! this is like HarryPotter himself would forgive Voldermort! (well…pardon for the terrible example). Wasnt it her that was unfairly ousted as PDI-chairman by Suharto? wasnt it her whose daddy treated terribly by the man? well…maybe she’s too busy cuz “the bulls” makes the rider easy to forget.

Ouw well…after all…Harry Potter series wouldnt be as exciting if everything is “on track”. There should be some surprises and shit that makes people say “damn it, they shoulda…or crap,he cant do…” But my hope is that Indonesia would make it as “best seller” in the future, and we should all learn. Or would you rather be one of those un-enlightened servants?

Feel free to create some more “Fuss”. I am no Suharto afterall, not with the ventilator at least, hehe.

welcome to Pat’s world!
